WELCOME TO BPS, WHERE WE MIND.

BPS Clinic is home to a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals,, dedicated to providing evidence- based, effective, and conscious care using the Biopsychosocial approach.

We’re here to support your health across every stage of life, from paediatrics and adolescence through to adulthood and elderly care. We’re not just treating symptoms; we’re walking with you on a lifelong journey of physical, emotional, and mental health.

The Biopsychosocial Approach Explained

The Biopsychosocial approach is a comprehensive framework first proposed by Dr George Engel and Dr John Romano in 1977.

Unlike the traditional biomedical model which focuses solely on the biological causes of illness, the Biopsychosocial model recognises the complexity of our health and wellbeing. It looks beyond physical symptoms to consider the emotional, psychological, and social factors that shape us.

This approach is especially valuable in multicultural settings such as the UAE, where cultural, social and environmental factors significantly influence wellbeing.

The Biopsychosocial model guides not only diagnosis but also treatment planning and preventative strategies. At its core, it is a human-centred philosophy which honours the patient’s full human experience – body, mind and environment.

Backed By Research

The Biopsychosocial approach is widely supported by decades of clinical research and real-world outcomes.

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that up to 80% of primary care visits involve psychosocial factors, underscoring the importance of integrating biological, psychological, and social care.

  • One in four people worldwide will experience a mental or neurological disorder during their lifetime (WHO Mental Health Action Plan, 2020).

  • Studies show that integrated, whole-person care models improve treatment adherence, patient satisfaction, and long-term health outcomes (British Journal of General Practice, 2015; The Lancet Psychiatry, 2016).

  • Research also indicates that biopsychosocial approaches can enhance the management of chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and chronic pain, improving both symptom management and overall quality of life.

At BPS Clinic, our commitment to the Biopsychosocial model reflects not only our professional experience but the proven success of this approach in delivering better patient outcomes.
